Update January 2014 – I am so thrilled to be able to update various posts about the lovely Upton, with the wonderful news that he found a forever home at the end of last year. Fantastic!
A little while back I was lucky enough to join Upton and his carer on a little walk so that I could see just how impressive his recall is (very!), photograph him off lead and do an update to his original blog of cute photos, which can be seen here. Please visit Upton’s rehoming page for an up to date account of his rehoming requirements. The rescue says:
“Upton has been seeking his forever home for far too long now so if you feel you have the right home and experience for him please speak to his carer – he will make a fantastic dog in the right hands. Because he hasn’t been used to a home environment we would take it very slowly to re-home him – he would first get to know you, then go to your home for a few hours, then perhaps overnight. Our behaviour team would continuously be involved. This means you would need to live close to the Home as you will be back and forth many times over several months.”
I’m so surprised that Upton hasn’t yet found his very own forever home. I know he needs to be the only dog, which obviously rules out a lot of lovely dog owners, BUT there must be someone wonderful out there who could offer a fantastic home to this gorgeous boy – is it you?
He’s not a big dog, he’s good on-lead, he is very sweet and he loves his food – so any future training should be aided by this. Yes he has been in kennels for some time, but that should be a reason for someone special to want to give him the chance of a home of his own, not to walk past and look the other way.
Upton may be an older dog, but he’s still very active and ready for a great walk
I saw for myself how great Upton is off-lead – he’s really good. We saw a couple of other dogs off-lead, while on our walk, one was even chasing after a ball, but Upton came back to his carer as soon as she called him. Now he has a great bond with his carer and a new owner will need to invest their time, love and patience in building up a bond with him, of course, but it will be well worth it, I’m sure.
We stopped for him to do a little jumping over some logs – he was very good! Cleared the logs and came running straight to me for some praise. Clever boyScroll to the end of the blog for a few teeny video clips too!
