~ I was given a copy of this beautiful book recently, Emotional Healing for Dogs, written by Lisa Tenzin-Dolma.
As it says on the cover, which features beautiful artwork of Lisa’s much-loved and much-missed Skye, the book combines Bach Flower Remedies and behaviour therapy.
From the back cover, “In this clear, informative and encouraging book, Lisa Tenzin-Dolma explains the history, purpose and therapeutic uses of Bach Flower Remedies for dogs. The information is a gift to canines, dog experts and caregivers around the world. Dogs have sensitive emotional needs and when those are understood and considered, negative behaviours can be changed, emotional scars healed and a deeper relationship between caregivers and canines can result”.
Emotional Healing for Dogs
It’s a lovely book. While I have used Bach Flower Remedies for years for myself and my dogs, I am far from being an expert. I haven’t read the book from cover to cover yet, but I have read quite a few of the remedy pages (is it just me that decides *I* could benefit from many of them?!) and I really like the way the book is set out. The remedies are listed alphabetically and include some info on what sort of dog might benefit from each remedy, with information on indicators, physical signs, behavioural therapy and how the remedy might help. There’s information about the remedies at the front of the book and there’s also a short section where the remedies are listed in groups for emotional and mental states such as fear, uncertainty and loneliness.
There’s also mention of the wonderful Rescue Remedy and a few case studies at the end of the book. It’s a lovely and helpful book and makes me want one of those lovely wooden boxes containing ALL the Bach Flower Remedies even more than I already did.
