Can you keep a secret …?

Well for once in my life, I managed to! For more than two months, I hid the details of a surprise Birthday present from my husband. This is a record in our relationship – we are usually absolutely terrible about keeping surprises from each other! I ordered this gift back in March and after quite a number of secret emails, it arrived today from the US and my husband had no clue. Hooray!

So, let me introduce you to the newest member of our household … Sock Cassie! Custom made by the amazingly talented Stacey of Original Sock Dogs, who is also a member of HeARTs Speak, which is how I first found out about her, via a US pet photographer’s website.

The postman arrived, I managed to get to the door first and when my husband asked what had come, I told him it was supplements for the dogs – I’m always ordering things for them, so that wasn’t something to be questioned! I had a quick peek inside the box myself, first, and then gave my husband the gift. For those of you who haven’t read about Cassie before, she was the first dog we adopted together; my husband’s first ever dog; and our Brindle Rock. She very sadly passed away nearly two years ago and we miss her incredibly. You can read about her here and here – I’d advise you don’t read in public and that you have tissues handy.

Well Sock Cassie arrived and isn’t she gorgeous?

I love Stacey’s attention to detail. Clearly so much thought goes into these wonderful creations. Note the little belly button:)

Cassie liked to spend her time having a lie down. I told Stacey that Cassie had a white patch on her chest and then had to find photos to show this, which was more challenging than I had anticipated, since most of the photos of Cassie I have, are of her relaxing. We got there in the end though. Thanks for your patience, Stacey.

Cassie was an amazing girl who LOVED to snuggle and if you ended up next to her on the sofa, she would make you feel very relaxed, very quickly. Our visitors often found it a struggle to get up again when they’d been sat near her. She loved to lie on the sofa next to you and rest her gorgeous, chunky head, on your lap.

Cassie was a beautiful, loving and gentle girl with lovely, chunky paws. We are delighted with Sock Cassie, whose arrival brought tears to our eyes, and we will certainly be ordering another custom sock dog from Stacey. I have passed Sock Cassie back to my husband now, I promise! It’s my Birthday very soon though and I have asked for a custom sock dog as a present for myself:)At least I won’t have to keep this one a secret!

Stacey, thank you so much. You have such talent and I’m so glad I found your website that day.

Time to Change

I bought The Fire Starter Sessions book by Danielle LaPorte recently and have just started reading it. I have read such great things about this book.

It is time, well overdue in fact, to make some positive changes to my life in my pursuit of happiness and I am hoping this book will be one tool to help me, help myself. There is no reason for me to go through the rest of my life feeling bad about myself. There are many ways I can make a difference in this world, while bringing more joy into my life too. The time to start is now …

Me and My Girl ~ Photo Meditations

Hello:)It’s very rare to see a photograph of me on here. It’s also very rare to see the sun, these days, so I thought I’d combine the two and share this photograph.

A self-portrait from this afternoon, when the sky went blue and this vaguely familiar, bright thing appeared! I could probably count the number of photographs of myself that I like, on one hand (maybe two). This photo is definitely one I’ll treasure. I’m very grateful to Susannah Conway too, because I am not sure I would have taken this had I not been doing one of her wonderful e-courses.

Doggie Bling ~ Pet Photography

A little while back, I noticed a facebook page selling wonderful dog tags. They are made by Paula at IslandTop Designs in the US, which posts worldwide. I did go to the page to look at tags for my dogs, but I liked a fair few and couldn’t make up my mind (yet).

Then I saw a tag made for humans, which can be worn as a pendant and I HAD to have one of those! I ordered the pendant a few weeks ago and it arrived today and I love it. It’s a beautiful design, with a nice feel and weight. I ordered mine in a silver colour.

I asked Paula if it would be possible to include seven names, which thankfully worked as a couple of the dogs have short names! I love that it features all the dogs my husband and I have adopted together. Sadly a few of the dogs named are no longer with us, so its arrival brought a few tears to my eyes, but I am so glad I was able to include them all:)

I shall be back to order the dogs some tags when I’ve made up my mind!

Eight Years Ago ~ Pet Photography

Eight years ago, today, we adopted this gorgeous boy from Bath Cats & Dogs Home. He’d originally come via another rescue, to help his chance of finding a home. I met him shortly after he arrived at Bath and fell in love at first sight, but didn’t feel in a position to offer him a home until almost a year later. Sadly he had waited that long for a forever home. Fortunately he had waited for us :)He is gorgeous, sweet, loving, sensitive and the most loyal dog I feel I will ever share my life with.

Happy Gotcha Day darling boy xxx
