Adopted! ~ Baby Bronco ~ seeks someone to cherish him ~ Pet Photography

August 2011: this lovely little chap has been adopted – so pleased:)

I recently met Bronco, a very sweet little boy who is 11 years old, who arrived at Bath Cats & Dogs Home as a stray. He is a little Terrier cross, who looks very “Russelly” (Jack Russell), has the most fabulous ears and is looking for a very special home of his very own.

How could you not adore this little chap?!

Little Bronco loves to be around people and adores cuddles! He is vocal, but he means no harm, it is his way of asking for attention.

Bronco is a very friendly little chap who rather loves his carer!

Bronco’s carer says he is not great with dogs, so should be rehomed as an only dog. He is however a little boy, so should be easy to manage while out and about, on lead.

This gorgeous boy is fine to be left for a couple of hours, during which he will sleep!:)He could live with a family with sensible children aged 10+. It is not known how he is with cats, so he is looking for a cat-free home .

The rescue notes that Bronco has wobbly legs, which is a neurological condition which does not cause him any pain. He will need a home which is happy to just give him regular, short walks, so that he doesn’t get tired – so someone who would enjoy the company of a fabulous little boy, while not wanting to walk for hours, would be ideal:)Bronco is not castrated yet – the rescue will discuss this with the vet, bearing in mind his age.

Bronco really does deserve to find an amazing retirement home where he will be cherished – it’s sad to think of any dog in kennels (no matter how great the rescue), but it’s particularly tough to think of the older dogs waiting for their forever homes. Having adopted two “oldies” myself, I can tell you from the heart that it is a wonderful and rewarding thing to do. Older dogs really should be treasured.

Adopted ~ Super Tramp ~ What a Darling! ~ Pet Photography

August 2011: Very pleased to let you know that this gorgeous boy has been adopted. Be happy Tramp!

A little while back, I got to meet Tramp, a year old, neutered, male Lurcher, who is at Bath Cats & Dogs Home and waiting for a forever home. I was rather excited at the thought of meeting and photographing him. Tramp is a really sweet and playful young dog who deserves an amazing home. I’m sure someone special will fall for his charms soon …?

Tramp arrived at the rescue as a stray so there is no previous history for him. How anyone could lose him and not desperately search for him, I have no idea, but it means he is ready to find a wonderful new home where he will be truly cherished, always.

Hoping for a treat, perhaps?

Tramp is a young dog who is full of fun and energy and is looking for an active home. He is strong on the lead and will lunge at dogs, so training will need to be continued by his new owners, but his carer says this shouldn’t be a problem, because he is young and responsive to people.

Tramp is playful with other dogs  when off-lead, so he could live with another dog(s) following successful introductions. He would suit living with another active dog – quiet ones need not apply!

Tramp is cuddly, affectionate and loyal …

(my favourite photo of the session!)

… and did I mention handsome?!:)

The rescue says Tramp needs to go to a home where someone is around most of the time, as he gets bored easily and can become destructive. His carer says he is completely kennel clean, so should be houstrained too – though of course anyone taking on a new dog (puppy or adult) should be prepared for a few accidents as the dog settles in.

Tramp can live with children aged 10+, possibly younger if they are used to bouncy dogs – please speak to the rescue. He is not good with cats.

Rather lovely paws!

Looking for a very special home where he will be treasured.

Little video:)

The oh-so-special Upton

Update January 2014 – I am so thrilled to be able to update various posts about the lovely Upton, with the wonderful news that he found a forever home at the end of last year. Fantastic!

A little while back I was lucky enough to join Upton and his carer on a little walk so that I could see just how impressive his recall is (very!), photograph him off lead and do an update to his original blog of cute photos, which can be seen here. Please visit Upton’s rehoming page for an up to date account of his rehoming requirements. The rescue says:

“Upton has been seeking his forever home for far too long now so if you feel you have the right home and experience for him please speak to his carer – he will make a fantastic dog in the right hands. Because he hasn’t been used to a home environment we would take it very slowly to re-home him – he would first get to know you, then go to your home for a few hours, then perhaps overnight. Our behaviour team would continuously be involved. This means you would need to live close to the Home as you will be back and forth many times over several months.”

I’m so surprised that Upton hasn’t yet found his very own forever home. I know he needs to be the only dog, which obviously rules out a lot of lovely dog owners, BUT there must be someone wonderful out there who could offer a fantastic home to this gorgeous boy – is it you?

He’s not a big dog, he’s good on-lead, he is very sweet and he loves his food – so any future training should be aided by this. Yes he has been in kennels for some time, but that should be a reason for someone special to want to give him the chance of a home of his own, not to walk past and look the other way.

Upton may be an older dog, but he’s still very active and ready for a great walk:)

I saw for myself how great Upton is off-lead – he’s really good. We saw a couple of other dogs off-lead, while on our walk, one was even chasing after a ball, but Upton came back to his carer as soon as she called him. Now he has a great bond with his carer and a new owner will need to invest their time, love and patience in building up a bond with him, of course, but it will be well worth  it, I’m sure.

We stopped for him to do a little jumping over some logs – he was very good! Cleared the logs and came running straight to me for some praise. Clever boy:)Scroll to the end of the blog for a few teeny video clips too!

Upton and his carer.

Little cutie!

So, If you are seriously interested in offering Upton a home, please contact Bath Cats & Dogs Home on 01225 787 321 or complete the Home’s online rehoming form, which can be found here. Please mention that you saw him at Poochie Freak.

Wondering where HIS forever home is …:(

Little Billy

Update August 2013 – Billy has very sadly passed away. There’s a lovely tribute to him on the rescue’s website here. I know he wasn’t adopted, but I think he did find his forever home – at the rescue, with his carer (who completely adores him) looking after him, long-term. Run free, Billy, hope there were lots of footballs and treats waiting for you. I’ll miss your cheeky face.

Billy is currently Old Dog of the Week at Oldies Club. You can read all about him on that link, but I thought I would share my favourite few photos of him here:)

He may be 12 years old, but like many older dogs he is still active and full of enthusiasm for life. Billy loves to play and loves his toys:)

Billy has built up a wonderful bond with his carer and is a big hit with the rescue’s dog walkers. A potential adopter would need to visit him at the home a number of times to start building a bond with him.

Paw cuteness!

Such fun!

Waiting patiently for his forever home!

There’s a sweet video clip of him too …

As usual, please contact Bath Cats & Dogs Home if you are seriously interested in offering Billy a loving and suitable forever home – and let them know you saw Billy at Poochie Freak:)Please visit the link at the top of this blog, for full info on the sort of home Billy needs:)

Making Memories

~ We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.

We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan. ~ Irving Townsend

This weekend we celebrated a special day, a Gotcha Day – seven years since we adopted one of our rescue dogs.  The passing of time seems to have flown by so fast.

My dogs are my best friends. They are always there, ever loving, never rejecting. Always ready to do something, go somewhere, play, or just chill out and be together.  I love them more than I can put into words ~ they are my sunshine.

We lost one of our best friends, suddenly, last Summer. We are conscious that we have adopted a number of dogs who are very close in age and we are worrying because two of our beautiful dogs are currently facing health concerns. I really do feel we are living in a fragile circle.  There’s a big downside to this, but there’s an upside too. Realising how fragile this circle of life can be, enables me to appreciate all the wonderful times spent with my best friends; whether excitingly exploring somewhere new, enjoying our regular routes, or snuggling at home together, in perfect comfortableness.

I appreciate all the moments which are making memories of my best friends for years to come. Even the naughtier moments. Maybe especially the naughtier ones. Give all you can to your best friend(s), you won’t regret it.

Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s not important. Oh and burn your Cesar Millan books as kindle and get Bones Would Rain from the Sky instead. Your dog will thank you for it.
