Good thoughts for Jasper

Our dear oldie Jasper could do with your good thoughts today. He has had a bit of a funny turn again. We are trying to keep him quiet and relaxed at home and hopefully he will make a good recovery, as he did from the last one. Your good thoughts appreciated, thank you.

Adopted ~ Rescue Puppies!

Update 5 April 2011: All three puppies have now found homes:-)

Update 30 March 2011: Very pleased to hear that Jerry and Max have been adopted! Please check out your local rescue if you are looking to get a dog – you may well find your new best friend is there, waiting for you:)

There comes a time in every photographer’s life when they will be asked to do something rather difficult, something which involves a little sacrifice on their part:wink:It was my turn this week, as I spent some time playing with and photographing these puppies, who are at Bath Cats & Dogs Home and looking for  loving and suitable forever homes. It’s tough, but someone has to do it …

*Please note that anyone interested in adopting one of these puppies must follow the puppy adoption procedure outlined here.*

In order to adopt a puppy from the rescue, you will first need to complete the questionnaire and have your home visit. Then if that is successful, you’ll be invited to the rescue to meet the puppy:)

The rescue will only rehome a puppy when there is someone home during the day for them. Any new puppy adopter MUST sign up for puppy training classes before adopting their puppy. Adopters will also need to commit to neutering their puppy at an appropriate age.

Puppies need lots of supervision and company and LOVE to play:)

We adopted one of our dogs as a puppy from rescue. It was a wonderful experience, BUT I was prepared for:

  • the hard work
  • the time commitment
  • the watching their every move
  • the toilet training (including the visits to the garden in the middle of the night, no matter how wet or cold it was!)
  • the cleaning up when I didn’t watch closely/take them outside quickly enough and there was an accident indoors
  • the frequent feeds
  • the socialisation (with everything, very important)
  • the training
  • the expense
  • seeming to find more of the garden inside the house, than out
  • the chewing (dogs don’t know how expensive your furniture is or that those are your *favourite* shoes!)
  • the lack of sleep
  • the things I have forgotten

Cute!

If you are prepared for all of this and still interested in adopting one of these beauties, please read the information about adoption again and take a look at the rest of the photos:)

Max, Bubbles and Jerry are about 12 weeks of age.

They are good with other dogs, OK to live with children of any age and can be trained to live with cats.

Bubbles (above) is a typical bossy girl, but very sweet and full of fun and mischief!

It was a little chilly – don’t they look sweet in their coats?

Jerry (above) is a lovely, cuddly boy, who can be a bit bossy with other dogs, so his carer thinks he would benefit from going to a home with an existing dog, to help keep him in line:wink:

Loves snuggles!

Max (above) is just a gorgeous cuddly boy – he really is a sweetie:)Well they all are, it was truly wonderful to spend time with them and photograph them and I really hope they are all in fantastic new homes soon:)

Please click on the gallery below to view more photos of these puppies – you have been warned …

*Adopted!* Cazzie ~ pretty in pink

30 December 2013 ~ Wonderful news! Cazzie has found a forever home with one of her long-term dog walkers. I’m so pleased that after all this time, she’s been adopted – and by someone she already knows. Great update to end this year with:-)

The very beautiful Cazzie is at Bath Cats & Dogs Home and looking for a forever home of her very own. She is a seven year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Staffie) cross with the most gorgeous eyes and lovely brindle colouring. Please take a look through all of her photos and don’t miss the cute little video at the end:)

She has waited patiently for a long while now – surely it must be her time to shine? She really deserves a special home of her very own and I hope that she finds that soon.

According to Cazzie’s rehoming page, she is a friendly and affectionate dog who is very active and can be boisterous. She is looking for a home where she will be given the exercise and stimulation she needs to make sure she doesn’t get bored.

Cazzie loves to play – and I took her into the paddock for some off-lead fun and photography. I think she rather liked the new toy I bought for her – her pretty face is under there somewhere, really!

Cazzie had a good charge around with her new toy, then did some more posing for me, in exchange for some tuna cake, which she thought was rather delicious:)

The Home says that Cazzie is very people orientated and loves company, so she does suffer from separation anxiety, whining when left. Although she has not been destructive in kennels when left, she was in her previous home, so she has been crate trained. She should be fine to left in a new home for very short periods, if given a bone or chew to occupy her, but she does need a home where someone will be around for much of the day.

Cazzie’s little Staffie smile:)

Cazzie knows some basic commands but would benefit from further training as she is very excitable – however as she is very food orientated this shouldn’t be too much of a problem!

She seemed to be having such fun, it really made me smile:)

Cazzie enjoys her walks and she does pull on the lead (and is strong) but the Home says she walks better on a harness. Cazzie is obedient, but can be over the top at times, but she’s lovely!

Time for some posing … hasn’t she got the most beautiful eyes?:)

Cazzie would suit a family where any children are aged 12+. She is not good with other dogs and is looking for a new home where she is the only dog. She does need to be muzzled when out and about. She can not live with cats.

A very sweet little tongue poking out!

Cassie wishes she could find her forever home.

With belly rubs as part of the daily routine, perhaps!:)

Can you offer a loving and suitable home for the beautiful Cazzie? If you are seriously interested in adopting her, you will need to contact Bath Cats & Dogs Home on 01225 787 321, or complete the Home’s online rehoming form, which can be found here.

Please let them know that you saw Cazzie at Poochie Freak:)

Do please take a look at the little video clip of Cazzie too, she looks so sweet running around with her new toy! She is going to make a really fun companion for the right family, I truly hope she finds them very soon.

I posted some months ago about one of the Pedigree videos, which is one of the best pro-adoption videos I’ve seen. So simple. So powerful. So here it is again.

Adopted! Adorable Archie ~ pet photography

15 July 2011 ~ thrilled to find out that the lovely Archie has been adopted! Have a wonderful life gorgeous boy.

Last week, after being terriered , I had the pleasure of taking Archie, a young Lurcher, into the paddock at Bath Cats & Dogs Home for some off-lead fun and photography. He really is as adorable as he looks and after he had had a quick sniff around the paddock and I had bonded with him a little over some tuna cake, he became very responsive to me, considering we had only just met for the first time.

Archie, who is just over two years old, neutered and microchipped, is a huge favourite of one of the members of staff at the Home, who fell for his expressive face and big lurcher eyes, which focus so keenly on his friends. She tells me he gets very excited to see her and bounces 5′ in the air, which doesn’t surprise me, seeing his gracefully long legs and lovely energy.

I’m told Archie is a  really affectionate lad who will bond with a new owner very quickly. He is also a clever boy, who knows quite a few commands and who would love to learn more with a new owner – he is happy to work for fuss and attention but is also food-motivated, which always helps with training, I think.

Archie is a playful chap, as you can see – and we had fun playing with toys in the paddock:)I’m told that off-lead, Archie is a love – he joined ten other dogs from the home on a Boxing Day walk and ran free, being playful with the other dogs while returning to his carer at regular intervals.

Archie LOVES people, and will say hello to anyone. I’m informed that in the office over Christmas, he would say hello to visitors and then go find them one of his toys and give it to them really gently – so sweet! He doesn’t like it if someone starts being rough, but once you have gained his trust and he is confident you mean him no harm, he’ll be your friend – and friends are allowed to give him belly rubs!:)

All Archie would need is a 40 minute walk once a day, some play time and fuss, and then a big comfy sofa.  A quiet home, some gentle training and lots of love will make him a happy boy.

I have a fair bit of experience with nervous/sensitive dogs myself and found Archie to be a real sweetie who was happy to lean into me for a bit of a snuggle and was fine about me sitting next to him on the grass for some fuss.

Archie is looking for a home where someone is home much of the time, or at least a home where his new owners are willing to train him slowly to be left for short periods. He would suit someone who works from home as he is happy to chill out knowing that someone is nearby. When he spends time in the office at the Home, he will sleep on  his bed at someone’s feet, but he does wait at the door if they have to leave the office, so he is clearly a dog who seeks company – and who wouldn’t want to keep him company?

Archie is nervous of noise and sudden movements, which means he is unsuitable for a home with young children. He has become upset when he has been in the office and heard someone shouting and was very worried by people moving wheelie chairs near him and stepping over him. He really does need a quiet home where he won’t be disturbed and where he will have his space respected – and with those legs, it can be quite a bit of space:lol:

Although he has become stressed at times, I’m told Archie gave clear signals of his discomfort, so an experienced dog owner should have no problem communicating with him.

Archie finds walking through the Home a stressful experience, which is understandable with big dogs barking and running around paddocks as he walks by. He responds by lunging and redirects his stress, so is currently muzzled as he walks past the other kennels, but this is very much an on-lead concern. He calms down considerably when out and about and walks really nicely on the lead and loves a snuffle when he is relaxed. His admirer at the Home jogs with him and says he is learning to slow down for her:)

This lovely boy attends socialisation classes at the Home, where he is playful and bouncy when he has his best doggie friend with him. I understand that they can be a bit of a bad influence on each other and Archie is much more gentle and reserved when he is without his buddy! He could live with another dog, following a successful introduction, but is looking for a cat-free home.

Ready to play with his new owner:)

Archie came into rescue from a loving home and is a sensitive soul who finds it difficult in kennels. He throws his blankets around in his kennel, which is a sign of stress, but when he spends time in the office with company, he doesn’t touch his bedding or rip up his toys.

Archie is a sweet and sensitive soul who would really love to find his forever family and move out of kennels and into a home environment. From the time we spent together, I would say that he is looking for someone who can see past his behaviour in the kennel environment and realise just what a wonderful, loving boy they would be bringing into their life.

Are you the person/family who can offer this gorgeously smiley boy the loving home he so deserves? If you are seriously interested in adopting him and feel you can offer him a suitable, peaceful forever home, please contact Bath Cats & Dogs Home on 01225 787 321 or complete the Home’s online rehoming form, which can be found here. And please let them know that you saw his details at Poochie Freak:)

There is a little video of Archie on YouTube, taken by one of the members of staff at the Home. Apparently the little hop Archie does when he hears his name, is his little signature move. Isn’t he a sweetie? Good luck Archie, it was a pleasure to meet you and I hope you are all snuggled up and being adored in a new home, very soon.
