Adopted ~ Krispy ~ the collie cuddle monster

Update: 15 November 2010 ~ found out this morning that the gorgeous Krispy has found a home:)I wish him LOTS of fun, love and happiness in his new home.

I will be photographing more dogs needing homes soon, so please check back. If you are looking for a rescue dog, there are many more waiting at Bath Cats & Dogs Home, on the Oldies Club website, via DogsBlog and at your local rescue centre/breed rescue. Please check out the rescue links at the bottom of my blog. If you need any help finding a rescue near you, do use the contact me page to email me.

*************

I had the huge pleasure of walking and photographing this absolute sweetie at the weekend, while volunteering at Bath Cats & Dogs Home. Let me introduce you to Krispy, a ten month old male collie pup who arrived at the home as a stray. I’d had a muddy snuggle within seconds of meeting him:lol:

Krispy is completely adorable.

We went for a walk and stopped to have a number of snuggles and gentle chest rubs.

I was allowed to give him a few treats, which he took very gently indeed. He held my hand very gently too, what a good boy!

He was understandably excited to be out walking, was interested in what was going on and playful, but not over the top.

We had a good wander around the fields and stopped for lots of sniffs (him, not me!).

I think I left a little piece of my heart with him when I handed him back to his animal carer:-(

Good luck Krispy! You deserve a wonderful home:)

Krispy is brilliant with other dogs and ok to live with children aged 10+. Cat status not known.

If you are interested in finding out more about Krispy or any other of the lovely animals at the Home, you can find the contact details you need here. There are SO many wonderful dogs, cats and other animals at BC&DH, so do visit if you’re in this area and looking to offer a loving home.

Boys, Boys, Boys!

I was reminded last weekend of just how many male dogs there are in rescue, looking for a loving home, so this post is dedicated to them and to encouraging people looking to adopt a dog, to please keep your options open:)

I grew up with bitches and our first rescue dog was female – this was down to us falling in love with her rather than just because she was a girl. We saw male dogs the day we reserved her, who were also very lovely.

When we started looking for a second rescue dog, we decided on a male and I read a few strange myths about male dogs. The one I remember most clearly is how male dogs are less affectionate than females. In my experience, of both adopting male dogs and of meeting many more, I have to say this is absolute rubbish! The boys I have shared my life with have been loving, affectionate, loyal, responsive – and of course gorgeous. They have loved their cuddles and in terms of interaction and affection, I really couldn’t differentiate between them and the girls.

Each dog is an individual and if you are looking for a loving dog to join your family, please look at all the dogs in rescue, both male and female, and choose the one that is most suited to you. Boys make great friends too and there are sadly SO many out there in rescues, waiting for their new family to find them:cry:

Real men hug their dogs

Just saying.

Sign of a good walk

Excited, much?

There may have been a ball involved;-)

Gorgeous Goldie

I took a few photographs of a local dog today, a beautiful rescue Cocker Spaniel called Goldie, who we see out walking sometimes. She’s a real sweetie with beautiful big eyes:)I think she was rather intrigued by my camera.
