Posing in the sunshine at the weekend …
Today I want to tell you about the wonderful work of Dogstar Foundation, a UK registered charity which works in Sri Lanka to provide access to free veterinary care, sterilisation and vaccinations for dogs and cats from low income communities. Visit Dogstar’s website to read more about its wonderful work.
I can’t put into words just how much I admire Sam for starting Dogstar and all her fellow volunteers for the work they do to help these animals, so let me show you some photographs (all copyright © Dogstar Foundation and posted here with Dogstar’s kind permission).
I’d like to introduce you to Pippa ♥
*Just a little warning that the first photograph is upsetting* and shows street dog Pippa in a very sad state, requiring treatment for skin infections, parasites and malnutrition. Please scroll down though and you will see how wonderful she is looking, thanks to Dogstar.
This photograph was taken in January 2010:
Along comes Dogstar and look how much she has improved in a relatively short period of time. Photograph taken about a month later, in February 2010:
Another photograph of the beautiful Pippa – she’s not recognisable as the same dog, is she?
This photograph shows Pippa just four hours after being spayed about a week ago, just before she tucked into lunch:
Pippa now lives at one of Dogstar’s supported Temples. Isn’t she looking fantastic?
As with all other animal welfare charities, Dogstar is dependent on donations to allow them to continue with their wonderful work, so if you would like to make a donation, I know they’d be very grateful.
If you have a spare £10 burning a hole in your pocket, you could use it to sponsor a spay . You can choose whether to sponsor a dog or cat and Dogstar will send you details of the animal you help
Visit the Dogstar website for more information on how to help them.

They are the most wonderful of creatures. Can’t imagine my life without the joy of the love we share. Thank you Universe, for giving us the Dog.
